Formspring Us!

Yup, that's right. We've jumped on the formspring bandwagon, and in case you're not familiar with it, formspring.me is a service that lets people ask you questions either with their info or anonymously. Mara Rolls Over!

Just had to share this cute video!! Mara learned to roll over while staying with Matt's brother, Nathan, while we were in Hawaii. She loves showing it off, and you can tell how intense she is when she slams on the floor!! It's super cute ;) But you can see that for yourself...

&s for Haiti

It seems like everyday now I find another group, cause or business donating their time, services, money and whatever else they can to support Haitian relief ... and it excites me!! I love seeing people come together and use their skills to help those in so much need right now. Today, I saw this font for sale to benefit Doctors Without Borders. How cool! Who knew that a font could do so much?! It's only $20 (which is cheap for a font, trust me!) ... and the great symbolism is - it's all about coming together. The entire font is comprised of different styles of ampersands...you know, that cute little &. ;) If you do buy it, I'd love to see how you use it!!

 

new samples + a bridal fair on saturday!

Whew! What a busy day here at Aus10. We have been getting everything together for a bridal fair this saturday, february 20, at Cherokee Casino in West Siloam Springs. We are pretty excited about getting the final touches put on our booth ideas and making sure everything is ordered and ready to go ... please come by and see us! We are going to be doing something very special...and super fun! ;) I We put together a new sample album...which reminds me, our album company, Finao, is using some of our albums at their tradeshow booth at WPPI Vegas in a few weeks! We won't be able to go but we've got some friends who will be there taking photos ;) It was pretty exciting when we got the email that they wanted to use us for samples! Here are a couple of pages from a special baby album we put together for them ...

 

  
  

music for haiti relief

This week ... we have a few new favorite songs. The album from MusicForRelief.org is fantastic!! And, they are donating the proceeds to Haiti relief through the UN, Habitat for Humanity and Dave Matthews' foundation for Haiti. Rebuilding will be a long and slow process, and we need to keep supporting!! I embedded a link to download and donate directly from our blog! The Tugwells | Arkansas Family Photography

We had a great day today, with several photo sessions! While all of them were great, I wanted to share this special one with you. You may remember the Tugwells from a couple of weeks ago - the family who was in process of adopting their son Louis from Haiti when the earthquake struck. About a week after the earthquake they were able to go to Haiti to finish the adoption process (which was simply going to the embassy and getting his visa finalized) and bring Louis home ... finally! Well, today they came in for their first family photo session together and we had a blast! It was as if the kids had always been brothers and sister...and here is one of our favorite images of the day!!

I thought this video on Time Video was super cute!! I love what the kids say about love and valentines day ... so innocent and quite entertaining. :) Hope it brings a smile to your face, too!

let it snow!

well .. in the spirit of being envious over the fact that we're in, like, the only midwest/east/north/south DEAD ZONE for snow at the moment I thought I would share some sweet DIY snow projects from the oh so fabulous Design*Sponge blog. Yes, I am in love with that blog. Unashamedly! ;) So, for the first one ... a custom snowflake light! If you're anywhere else but here and at home with the kids for a snow day this would be a fun activity! They even show you great tips on how to make your own snowflakes ... a little bit more intricate than what I was doing when I was little. ;)

 
 

Another cute project was making a snowflake garland out of doilies. Probably one of the best uses for doilies that I can think of...besides using them for stencils or something. ;) 

And, finally, a snowflake covered cork-board. I thought this was cute, but I was thinking that perhaps you could use a dark corkboard and then spray paint through more intricate flakes to create a pattern on the board. Happy snow dreams!

We are so loving working with a local orthodontist! Here are some of our favorites from the past year ... we are working on putting together a "wall of smiles" for them to display at the office. Enjoy!!

 

playing with color

There's just something about all of this snow and cold weather that makes me want to repaint the inside of the studio! So, I'm playing around with some different colors. Here's what I'm thinking ...

The front gallery/reception room will be a medium to charcoal grey, with a light grey ceiling so it doesn't feel too small. I am hoping that the grey will really make the prints pop off the wall! Here's a great example of using grey that I found on Design*Sponge, one of my favorite home decorating and color inspiration sites! (and i would totally simulate this in photoshop if i had some more time!) Also, I found a great DIY project for using the flat and semi gloss paints of the SAME COLOR to create a pattern on the wall, much like a spot UV coating. Not sure if I want to add busyness to this room, but perhaps the bathroom!? We'll see ;)

 

Now, when it comes to the kitchen I am a little more stuck. While I want to add color ... I'm not quite sure what to do. Any suggestions out there? I am thinking that I'll do a chalkboard wall somewhere ... maybe the wall where we have all of the signatures. I promise I will take photos of each and every one of them if we do decide to paint over. ;) It will be a tough decision. Here's an example I found on design*sponge of great use of chalkboard paint in a kitchen!!

 

I don't have a photo to show you of our laundry room, but I will probably go blueish-greenish with that ... keeping it light because the ceilings aren't as tall back there. Seriously, I am always open to color suggestions. I love designing but I get stuck on color a lot ... and generally default to grey. ;) Can you tell?! But it looks so good.... hehe
