Hey everyone, it's Matt! I'm substituting for Meghan today! I had something really simple but really cool happen today that I thought worth sharing. In our neighborhood we have Mail Men (and Mail Women) delivering to our box on our house. I didn't realize this, but you get to know the person delivering your mail better when they actually come right up to your doors, or they're walking by while you're coming or going. Anyway, this sort of brief interaction with our Mail Man Larry, started a conversation a few weeks back about old, vintage medium format film. Larry's mother had found a bunch of old negatives, but had no idea what was on them. I told him about a local lab that could print them for him, and asked if he would bring them by once he'd had them printed. Today, while I was working on orders, the doorbell rang and to my delight, Larry was standing there beaming with a stack of square prints. We flipped through the photos as he and I discussed the subject matter, the most likely year they were captured, and so on. This particular photo grabbed me before he even mentioned that this was his grandmother. Because of her posture, the other photos, etc, he estimated this photo was taken 20 years before her passing … the early 1950's. This woman hasn't been around for nearly 40 years, and he and his mother just happened to find a group of negatives, that included this one. My hope is that everyone will experience the simple joy that a photo of a loved one can bring ;)
